The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Finally, I have managed to start making cards again. Which is good because the magazines have had sets recently which I like and think I could actually use for a change. A lot of last year the sets were too similar to ones I already had, especially the Christmas sets.

But I liked the Magic Moments stamp and embossing folder set which came with Simply Cards & Papercraft 236, and the co-ordinating Tonic die of a treble clef. I only used it for a couple of cards before Christmas (one festive, one birthday), so I thought I’d start this year’s card-stash by having a play with the embossing folder.

I’ve been after musical stamps and dies for a while – for the musicians in my life – which made me doubly keen to get hold of this issue. Admittedly, if I was that desperate for musical things I could have specifically hunted some down without waiting hopefully for a magazine.

The die is a tad fiddly for the amount of time Tiny normally allows me, so this time I tried the embossing folder. Or part of it: it’s a 6”x4” folder, but I wanted to use it on a 5”x5” square card blank. Then a suitably red paper for a background, and a sentiment from the stamps. I might add some gems or other sparkle later, or I might leave it as is. Not everything needs sparkle, I suppose.
