Cards of the Week: Stags and Trees

There are yet more cards to be made from the Crafter’s Companion set of the last few weeks, but I have also made some with last year’s sets.

The stencil and stamp set I used for these came from Creative Stamping 90: the Stampendous Winter Stag set. It came just in time last year for a few, similar, last-minute cards, for that person or two you’ve forgotten from the list. And since now is about time to be writing and sending the cards, it’s also the time for the quick, simple cards, because there’s NO TIME now for more complicated ones. At least, not many.

Last year I used Memento inks over white heat-embossing. This year, it was VersaMagic (spring pansy and petunia for the purple; tea leaves and hint of pesto for the green) for the stencilling and black ink for the stamping. And then gold washi tape and silver ribbon at top and bottom to edge.

Then there are the variations with shades of blue and purple and scenes stamped across the bottom: trees for the stag and a deer family for the tree. A light dusting of pink and a sprinkle of gems, and, later, probably a sentiment. The earlier attempts with Distress Oxide inks did not go as well as intended. I prefer using VersaMagic.
