Last year, I finally got around to stitching a few Hobbycraft Christmas cross-stitch kits. A couple were from the previous year, which I’d put off because of the dreaded fractionals, and the others were new. The intention was to use them for Christmas cards.
Naturally, that didn’t happen, then. They’ve been hanging around my craft room since, creating clutter and glaring at me.
I’m using them this year, instead, starting with the mouse in a stocking, which is just right for a 5×5” card. The background I stamped in Cottage Ivy (the holly branches) and Northern Pine (the pine boughs) Memento inks, using a couple of Christmas foliage stamps from different stamp sets.
I’m still working out the backgrounds for the other Christmas patches, but they’re helping me to get on with the festive crafting by being an easy start to cards. And quick. Helps that the patches were stitched last year, and all I had to do was trim them down and work out the backgrounds.
