This Week in Crafts: Summer Butterflies

I can’t remember seeing many butterflies so far this year. Plenty of bees on the balcony, but not so many butterflies. Or in the park next door.

There’s time for them to turn up, and perhaps they will, now the sun seems to have come out.

In the meantime, at least I have plenty of butterfly stamps and accompanying dies to play with until the real ones come along.

I had a go at splashing the Distress Oxide background with water, but, like with the blending, I don’t have a particularly light hand when it comes to this sort of thing. But it turned out all right, with the big butterflies, although I should have used a heavier cardstock. Ah well, live and learn!

And then I sprinkled some gems about the place, because I could.

But bright and cheerful, which is just what any birthday card needs to be, especially at a time when seeing the recipient is harder than normal.

The butterflies are from a set I got in The Works, and the sentiment came with Simply Cards & Papercraft 204.
