This Week in Crafts: Seahorses

It’s been quite grey and dreary for the last few weeks, after the early promise of spring sunshine. Very disappointing.

But never mind: dreary outside weather means more time trying to lift spirits by playing with all the colours and glitter of my craft room, for the last cards of the Birthday Season. I’m still having a play for the very last one, but I managed this respectably glittery one with seahorses for the other.

The image is of a blue card with two seahorses facing each other. The one on the left is cut from green glitter card and the one on the right is a glittery dark blue. There are three blue gem dotted around the head of the one on the right and there is a sentiment between them reading It's your birthday.

The seahorses don’t belong to the same set, either, so I was quite pleased with how they turned out. The die comes from a Crafter’s Companion Nautical set, which came with Simply Cards and Papercraft 207, and the stamp from Creative Stamping 93. Not even coordinating sets to encourage you to buy both magazines – the SCP was from last summer, the CS from January this year. The Nautical set does have a seahorse stamp, but a mini one.

I stamped the seahorse in blue-green ink and then heat-embossed it with clear powder. The die-cut was done in a green glitter card. And then scattered blue gems about.

And, of course, now the sun is beginning to shine properly again.
