Autumn is my favourite season. For lots of reasons: it’s my birthday season; the colours are wonderful, all those reds and golds and oranges; it’s cool enough to snuggle under the many blankets that live on the sofa; it’s no longer hayfever season so M isn’t sneezing or wheezing all the time.
This stamp set is an RSPB-associated set, with the autumnal tawny owl and magpie. There are Spring, Summer and Winter sets as well (I’m only missing the Winter set). I don’t often buy stamp sets, but these, plus the matching scenery dies, did tempt me.
The tawny owl scene was stamped and then I went over it with oil pastels, smudging the pastels together in an attempt to blend the night sky. The darkest blue didn’t really work as well as I’d hoped. I think it’s a technique I need to practise, but one with plenty of potential.
I have another lovely autumnal stamp set which came with Simply Cards and Papercraft this month, but I haven’t got around to playing with it yet. Part of all the craft-room reorganisation.
