A few weeks ago, on a hunt for some spring flowers, M and I went to Biddulph Grange Gardens. There was a lull in the storms which accompanied the end of February.
We found more than just flowers.
Created by James Bateman in the mid-1800s to display his collection of plants, brought from all over the the world, he also attempted to reconcile his religious faith with recent geological discoveries. The wall of fossils is a display showing the evolution of life from dinosaurs through to humans, set out to explain the seven days described in Genesis.
Although the building isn’t open to visitors, the garden is more than worth a visit.
